Rebranding - Diamond is the new black

So as soon as the site is up it’s about to go under major construction along with my Myspace page as well. To explain the series of changes, rebranding is a must right now for me and any successful entrepreneur. Change is good. I was reading an article about being innovative in 21st century a few weeks ago which confirmed my feelings on this. It summed up how businesses across the globe are failing due to the fact that they are not innovative enough to survive in the times of what may become the next depression if it isn’t already.

When your an entertainer you have to look at yourself as a business and I definitely do. Image is key. You have to be mindful of what you say and do as well but that’s a whole other topic. I feel as of now we have built a candy image around a lot of things and I have found myself looking from a complete different perspective the last few months.

With that said a few changes are in store. First the biggest change is my alias. My name is Mike Diamond. I’ve been using “Diamondmonsterrr” as a name I dj under. It’s been beaten, chopped and slammed to shit by idiot people all over who don’t realize if I spell it that way then that’s how it’s supposed to be printed and spelled. A little over 2 years ago I came up with that and then it fit what myself, my promoters and dj associates were pushing. That time is over. “Diamondmonsterrr” is dead and Mike Diamond is what you’ll see from now on.

As far as everything else just expect DARK. Gloomy, dark, black, real. Bright colors are nice but all the flashy, glam, typical hot pink and neon green color scheme shit is getting on my nerves. I want to utilize basic shapes(diamonds, trinagles, octagons) and forms and incorporate that into the darker theme, online presence and musical direction I’m going to bring with the help of Will.

Now to clarify I’m not going insane, going to start playing Industrial music or worship Marilyn Manson. Nothing like that. Just taking professionalism, design and manipulation of the human mind through imagery to a different level than before.

One day were gonna live in Paris

Daily Updates, Music | Wednesday February 25 2009 5:36 pm | Comments (1)

So whenever I open up my iTunes and play some music I can’t help but think how influential Europe is to music in the states and vice versa now. There are many artists putting it down right now hailing from a place most of us dream of visiting(I may this summer *fingers crossed*) Paris, France.

The club scene is something I hear tons about but until I visit have yet to experience for myself. I came across some videos on YouTube a while ago that made me almost foam at the mouth. Nightlife goes off over there. See for yourself.

While were on the the topic of Paris I have tunes for you all as well

French Touch

Daily Updates | Tuesday February 24 2009 2:20 pm | Comments (0)

I always get asked what in the hell my “French Touch” tattoo means on my wrists. Well when I was young and before I knew what it was I was a big fan of french house. I remember buying random house compilations from The Wharehouse(R.I.P.) in Fairfield not knowing what I’d hear. Some of the tracks were from Cassius, Daft Punk, Stardust, Dax Riders and the list goes on. I realized how much they tuned my musical ear and changed my life in later years and had to dedicate something to the movement. I’ve concluded that you can’t know where music is going, especially if you are a dj/producer, if you don’t know the origins no matter the genre. Here are some of my absolute favorite tracks of all time I’ll never stop playing. I’ll get the mp3’s up for these tracks but I’m still setting up my media player for the site right now. ENJOY!

The band won’t stop marching

Saturday was Risque and I have to say I was impressed. People have been beat to shit with parties and events and still made it out. I also saw a lot of new faces which is always good. I want to thank all for coming out and having a good time with us. PUBLIC rocked an amazing set for us and killed it. Next month we have the Tenderlions from San Francisco coming out. They are going to do a live set. It’s pretty amazing stuff and something you just have to see for yourself. These guys are on the come up and just had their release party for the own record label Unicrons at Mezzanine. Beyond that I got some other pretty badass news about some Risque merchandise . . .

I’m still working on the setup of all this but by the end of the week it will all be done and updated. Thanks again for coming out Saturday.
